Student Representative Council (SRC)
Our Student Representative Council are the voice of all students. One of Paynesville Primary School's goals this year is to improve student voice and agency. The Student Council plays an important role in promoting Student Voice in our school.
All classes hold regular meetings where students discuss the activities and events they would like to see happening in our school. Our Student Council Representatives then meet with the Principal on a weekly basis to discuss these things. As a Student Council we discuss these ideas and work to implement them.
The first event our Student Council will implement and organise in 2019 is an Electronics Day. Electronics Day is when students can bring a device to school and are allowed to play it during one session, decided by their classroom teacher. Devices will be kept in the teacher’s office while they are not being used during the the rest of the day. Wi–Fi is unavailable so students cannot use games that need Wi-Fi. Devices will be returned to students at the end of the day. There will be no inappropriate games allowed eg. guns and gore.
Our Student Council and School Captains will also be going into classrooms to make observations. First term in 2019 they will be looking at and providing feedback on classroom reward systems and opportunities for student collaboration. We look forward to hearing their feedback at our staff meetings.
Congratulations to our Student Council Representatives for Term 1, 2019
